Updated: Man Rescued from Grain Elevator After Five Hours

According to the Kendall County Sheriff's office, the man was removed from the elevator at about 8:44 p.m. Wednesday after more than five hours. He was taken by emergency helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. The man was conscious when he was rescued.

Kendall County Sheriff's deputies and emergency crews from numerous local agencies are working to free a man trapped in a grain elevator in rural Lisbon Township.

Crews were dispatched to Grainco, 9500 Helmar Road, at about 3:20 p.m. for a report of a male employee with his leg stuck in an auger in the elevator. 

Bristol-Kendall Fire Department assumed command of the scene, and sheriff’s deputies are assisting with the removal of the male who is currently conscious and receiving medical attention.

Sherriff’s Deputies are also assisting with traffic control and are warning local motorists to expect potential delays due to the emergency activity.
