Community Unit School District 308 and Oswego East High School (OEHS) are premier places to receive an education in Illinois and the Chicago area, according to the 2015 Niche rankings.

School District 308 ranked 41st for school districts in the Chicago metropolitan area and 52nd out of Illinois’ 868 districts. OEHS ranked 82nd for high schools in the Chicago area and 97th statewide. This places both in elite company in the top 100.

Superintendent Matthew Wendt said the rankings are the result of the hard work and dedication of teachers, staff and students.

“There is so much potential and promise in our school system,” said Wendt. “And with the rankings the district and Oswego East High School just earned, I remain confident in the amazing work performed by all staff members, the commitment to excellence from students, and our collective world-class vision throughout School District 308.”

The rankings are compiled and published by Niche, a nationwide organization focused on providing students, families, and professionals with best-in-class content and insight for making major life decisions.

Niche provides rankings for 14,431 high schools nationwide, based on dozens of key statistics, while 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents. Niche offers rankings and statistics on every neighborhood and city in the United States to help people find the best places to live, visit, and raise a family.

“I want to extend my congratulations to the staff, students, parents and volunteers, and offer my very best to everyone who helps School District 308 be a very special place for student learning,” said Wendt. “Additionally, I am so proud of OEHS for being named to this list, which includes an impressive number of high-performing high schools in Illinois and the Chicago metro area.”
