Man Cited for Illegal Fireworks After Bottle Rocket Lands on Squad Car: Police

Car keyed

Oswego Police are searching for a man they believe is responsible for keying a car while it was parked in the lot of the Churchill Club Clubhouse at about 2:45 a.m. July 5. The man is described as white, about 6-feet 5-inches tall, 215 pounds with gray hair. The man was riding a bike, police said. About $1,500 in damages was done to the car.

Illegal fireworks

A resident of the 0-99 block of Circle Drive West was cited for possessing more than 3 pounds of illegal fireworks at about 4:20 p.m. July 4, according to a Kendall County Sheriff's Office report. While a deputy was on patrol in the area a stick from a bottle rocket landed on top of his squad car. After investigating, the deputy discovered the fireworks on the home's back porch and seized them. The resident was given a notice to appear. 

Cut sunflowers

A resident in the 200 block of Lombardy Lane reported to Kendall County Sheriff's deputies July 3 that sunflowers he had been growing at a farm in Oswego Township had reportedly been cut down. The sheriff's office said there are suspects in the case. 

Domestic battery

Shawn Culligan, 34, of 535 Tewksbury Cirlce, Oswego, was arrested for domestic battery and obstructing police at about 7:40 p.m. July 3 at his home, according to an Oswego Police report.

Maria Sherrel, 44, of 501 Cardinal, was arrested for domestic battery at about 8 p.m. July 3 at her home, according to an Oswego Police report. 

Car break-ins

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office took six reports of residents in Boulder Hill having their unlocked vehicles broken into sometime overnight July 2. Various electronics, coins and personal items were reported stolen. The sheriff's office warns all residents to lock their car when unattended. 

Pot possession

Nia Reynolds, 2401 Columbia Lane, Montgomery was arrested for marijuana possession at about 2:40 a.m. July 2 near Orchard Road and Route 34, according to a Kendall County Sheriff's Office report. She was originally stopped for speeding, the sheriff's office said. 

Marijuana possession

Demetrius Stubblefield, 19, of 471 Dancer Lane, Oswego, was arrested for marijuana possession at about 12:20 a.m. July 2 near Douglas and Fernwood roads, according to a Kendall County Sheriff's Office report. 

Bike and phone stolen

A resident of Taft Drive reported that someone stole a bike and cell phone at Fox Chase School at about 1:45 p.m. July 2, according to an Oswego Police report.
