By the Numbers: Oswego District 308 Superintendent Wendt's New 5-Year Contract

Apr 07, 2014 02:39PM ● Published by Steven Jack

Oswego District 308 has released the complete contract approved by the School Board last week that will carry Superintendent Matthew Wendt through 2019.

The board voted 6-1 to approve the incentive-laden deal with board member Alison Swanson casting the lone dissenting vote. Check the chart above for exactly how much Wendt could earn if he meets the achievement guidelines laid out for him.

According to the terms of the contract, the incentives will be based on but not limited to "student performance, including, but not limited to, student performance on standardized tests, successful completion of the curriculum, and attendance and drop-out rates; (2) review the curriculum and instructional services; (3) review school finances; and (4) report to the school board on his findings as to (a) student performance and (b) his recommendations, if any, for curriculum or instructional changes as a result of his evaluation of student performance."

The School Board will provide the annual goals to Wendt by no later than June 1 of each year, the contract states.

"This commitment to Dr. Wendt ensures the direction and path the district is on will continue," said Board President Bill Walsh after last week's contract vote. "This is a representation of the fantastic work that you, your entire staff, teachers and students have performed over the last two years."
