Firefighters were called to the scene of Orchard and Mill roads at about 10:55 a.m. for a field that caught fire after a construction truck got stuck and its catalytic converter set fire to corn stalks, said Battalion Chief Jeff Warren. The fire set the entire truck alight, and it was a total loss, Warren said. Firefighters brought the fire under control in 20 minutes.
Then, at 4:30 p.m. crews were called to Douglas and Wolf's Crossing roads for a rubbish fire that had spread to some nearby grass. That fire was out in five minutes, Warren said.
Finally, at 4:455 p.m. teens set a fire on the island at Bartlett Lake in Lakeview Estates. Warren said that fire likely would die out on its own. Apparently the teens, who were never found, rowed out to the island in a canoe, Warren said. They were gone by the time Oswego Police arrived on the scene.
