Well, now there's a study that is offering some proof to that commonly held belief.
Real estate company Zillow.com reported recently that Kendall County ranks third in the nation when it comes to property taxes as a percentage of home value. The area came behind only Allegany County, N.Y. and Milwaukee County, Wis.
Kendall County residents pay an average of 3.57 percent in property taxes in relation to the value of their home.
The national average is 1.4 percent, the study showed. The study adjusts for the average cost of single-family homes in each county.
The lowest percent to value is in Caroline County, Va: at 0.17 percent.
