A high school rugby team made up of players from both Oswego high schools won the State Championship on Monday in Loves Park.

The Chiefs defeated Brother Rice 29-24 at the state title match in Loves Park.

OEHS Senior Keagan Griffin scored in the match as did OHS players Austin Golden and Griffin Lawrence.

"Our seniors set the state championship as the team's goal for 2014 and they earned the right to play today," said coach Bryce Elliott on the team's Facebook page. "We knew that Brother Rice had an excellent team and that we would need to play our best match of the season to compete. I am proud of all of our boys, starters and reserves alike, for their accomplishments and thankful to our parents, coaches, and fans for their support."

In addition to the Oswego players, the team also includes students from Waubonsie Valley, Metea Valley, Aurora Central Catholic, Neuqua Valley, and Yorkville High Schools.
