Oswego Emergency Personnel Participating in Training Exercise Friday

Jun 05, 2014 01:43PM ● Published by Steven Jack

If you travel past Oswego East High School between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday and see a large emergency personnel presence, don't be alarmed.

The Oswego Police Department along with Oswego District 308, the Oswego Fire Protection District and area hospitals are participating in a mass casualty exercise to test their "ability to handle critical incidents as a collaborative group of first responders."

"Training events of this nature show a commitment by all stakeholders involved that we are dedicated to providing the best emergency service to our community," said Oswego Police Capt. Jeff Burgner.

Residents may see a large number of police and fire personnel at both OEHS and Plank Junior High, which will serve as a staging area.

Burgner said the exercise will not affect traffic in the area.
