PrairieFest Not Possible Without Hundreds of Volunteers: Letter

There is no way that we can adequately thank the 200+ volunteers who helped make PrairieFest run smoothly, safely, and awesomely.
These volunteers were the first faces that you saw as you drove into the festival, and they helped guide your car into the lot. These were the people who welcomed you at the gates and answered your questions about where to find the petting zoo, and what time the concert started. These were the people who offered you a ride across the grounds, and they were the ones who kept those grounds free of litter and debris.
These volunteers poured your beer, lined up your parade, and pointed you in the right direction during your race. These volunteers were an army of individuals wearing bright salmon shirts and big smiles all weekend long.
Our volunteers are students looking for a way to give back, parents looking for an activity to share with their children, and other members of the community who love to be a part of hosting this festival for their friends and neighbors. One of the most gratifying parts of my weekend is when a volunteer wraps up a shift, and looks at me and says, “See you next year!” We love when everyone who attends the fest, especially our dedicated volunteers, is already looking forward to next year.
We hope that all of our volunteers know how much the Oswegoland Park District staff, and entire Oswegoland Park District population, appreciates how much you do for all of us over PrairieFest weekend. We know it is all hard work, but you make it all look easy, and you make it all look like a lot of fun! We couldn’t do it without you!
See you next year!
