A Newark woman and her 3-year-old female passenger were hospitalized after an accident at about 5:30 p.m. Monday on Route 71 in Oswego Township.
According to a Kendall County Sheriff’s office report, a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old Yorkville woman was stopped at Route 71 and Winding Creek Road when a car driven by Jennifer Heizer, 37, of Newark, ran into the back of her.
The impact of the crash caused Heizer's car to roll over, but it came to rest on its wheels, the sheriff’s office said.
The Yorkville woman was not injured, but Heizer and her 3-year-old passenger were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center for unspecified injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
Heizer was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Route 71 was closed for about an hour for clean up and accident investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
