The Limelight Theatre Company just wrapped up our fourteenth summer season. We proudly produced two original plays, and one big [green] musical. Double Cast was a modern re-telling of the Prince and the Pauper tale which had teenage actresses trading lives (and roles) for the day. G36, G36: The Legend of Jack Gaines took us on a comedic roller coaster of one man's epic journey through the rough and tumble world of professional bingo! Shrek: The Musical was a singing, dancing, farting extravaganza that taught us that what makes us different makes us special, and what makes us special makes us strong.
We had a record breaking number of actors audition to be a part of the shows this summer, and a record breaking number of audience members attend our shows. This was a big, big summer and we owe all of you a big, big thanks for being a part of it!
Thank you to all of our actors, crew members, musicians, and technicians who brought these three tales to life this summer. Your hard work and passion translated into believable, interesting, and entertaining moments on stage.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who painted, shopped, baked, sewed, constructed, created, herded, supervised, and offered to be a spare set of ears/eyes/hands. Your creative eyes, technical know-how, and dedication helped these shows become all that we wanted and more. Special thanks to Laura Anderson, Jess Dougherty, Cathi Kupres, Jenny and Paul Martis, Ellen Paul, Ilia Rivera, Juliette-Saiyde Sutor, Connie Thalman, and Nancy Vesta for taking on extra responsibilities in design, realization, construction, painting, and more.
Thank you to the staff members at ALL of the facilities that we used this summer for rehearsals and performances. You were generous and welcoming and we appreciate it! Thank you Boulder Point, Fox Chase Elementary School, Traughber Jr. High School, Oswego High School, and Oswego East High School for letting us be there for a day, a week, or a month, or for helping us find another location that would work for us. We owe an extra big thank you to Brent Anderson and the staff at Murphy Jr. High for letting us call their school “home” for the summer.
When we needed a last minute place to perform, they graciously let us move back in and do an extra show on their stage. Another immense thank you goes to Todd Mielcarz, Michael Baggesi, and the rest of the crew at West Aurora High School for once again welcoming us at the last minute when our plans needed to change. They went above and beyond to help us increase the quality of our production and the quality of the experience for our participants and their families.
Thank you for all of the support from other departments within the Oswegoland Park District. The marketing team created beautiful logos and posters that helped us spread the word about our shows and the midseason location changes. The Operations Department took time out of their busy and demanding schedule of upkeep at pools, parks, and playgrounds to help us move and build our sets.
Thank you to all of the parents who helped run lines and run participants all over town to get your kids to wherever we were that day. We can’t thank you enough for your flexibility and support. Finally, thank you to everyone who came to see one (or more) of our shows this summer.
We hope that you enjoyed watching the performances as much as we enjoyed creating them and making them happen. We continue to grow, develop, improve because of continued community support, and for that we thank you!
