Oswego Considering New Metra Park and Ride

Aug 12, 2014 07:30AM ● Published by Steven Jack

Oswego is considering a new park-n-ride commuter lot on the village's east side.

The lot is proposed for near the intersection of Douglas Road and Route 30 and would include departures in the morning and evening to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Line at the Aurora Transportation Center in downtown Aurora.

Village Administrator Steve Jones said the lot would utilize existing parking space in the area, and a new facility would not be built.

"This would be good for existing business because this would give them a captive audience and would be good for east side commuters to give them another option to get to the train," Jones said.

The village is asking residents to take a survey regarding the proposal.

The village currently operates a park-n-ride service from Orchard Road and Mill Street on the west side that operates five times in the morning and evening to downtown Aurora.
