Junior High Student Brought Knives to School: Police

Oct 10, 2014 07:56AM ● Published by Steven Jack

A 13-year-old Thompson Junior High School student from Oswego faces charges after bringing four knives to school Thursday, according to Oswego Police.

Three of the knives were throwing knives and the other was a pocket knife, said Oswego Police Capt. Jeff Burgner.

Police were called to the school at about 8:30 a.m. after a staff member observed one of the knives falling out of the boy's pocket, Burgner said. Police have yet to determine why the boy had the knives in school, but Burgner said no threats were made to other students or staff.

"At no time were any other students threatened with the knives," he said.

The boy has been charged with unlawful possession of weapons and unlawful storage of weapons, according to police.
