Oswego Police Investigating Shooting at Bar

Oct 31, 2014 06:22AM ● Published by Steven Jack

Oswego Police responded to the Crazy Bull bar near Routes 71 and 34 at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday for multiple shots fired.

According to Oswego Police Capt. Jeff Burgner, no one was injured, and the incident remains under investigation.

The incident began with an altercation between two groups of people outside the bar that then moved on foot to the nearby Speedway gas station where one unidentified victim was beaten, Burgner said. The fight moved back to the bar parking lot, and that's when multiple shots were fired, Burgner said.

"We're still working on the investigation, but there is some indication to support that this was possibly gang related," Burgner said.

No suspect information has been released by police, but several of the people involved were seen leaving the bar in a silver SUV, Burgner said.

One person was taken from the bar by police while they investigated the incident. Devin Ratliff, 24, of Bellwood, was charged on an outstanding warrant, and taken to the Kendall County Jail.

This is the second time in recent weeks police have been called to the bar for reports of violence. In the previous incident a member of the bar's security staff was cut with a broken bottle.

Burgner said police are working with the bar's owners to mitigate violence at the establishment.

As for whether the bar will face any penalties due to the recent incidents, Burgner said those decisions are made by the village's liquor commission.
