Children's Books, DVDs Stolen from Car: Police

DUI

Jeffrey Roe, 27, of 502 Heritage Drive, Oswego, was charged with DUI and obstructing traffic at about 6:40 a.m. Nov. 15 at Route 34 and Fifth Street, according to an Oswego Police report. 

DUI

Orlando Rivera, 58, of 544 Chestnut Drive, Oswego, was charged with DUI at about 2:10 a.m. Nov. 15 at Grove and Plainfield roads, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. Rivera was originally stopped for driving with one headlight, speeding and improper lane usage. 

DUI

Ronald Conner, 67, of Roselle, was charged with DUI at about 2:10 a.m. Nov. 15 in the 6000 block of Reservation Road, Oswego Township, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. 

Theft from a vehicle

A resident of the 0-99 block of Bereman Road, Montgomery reported someone broke into his car sometime before 8 a.m. Nov. 15, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. Losses were estimated at about $200.

Retail theft

James Vartiak, 26, of 35 Chippewa Court, Oswego, was charged with retail theft at about 6:50 p.m. Nov. 14 at a store in the 2500 block of Route 34, according to an Oswego Police report. He is accused of stealing about $100 worth of merchandise. 

Fight at school

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fight between two students at Long Beach Elementary School that occurred some time on Nov. 3. The Sheriff's Office responded to the school at about 3:30 p.m. Nov. 14.

DUI

Joel Bustamante, 27, of Aurora, was charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license at about 4:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at Route 31 and Mill Road, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. He was also charged with improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle and unlawful transportation of alcohol. 

Theft from a vehicle

Two residents of the 100 block of Laurie Lane in Oswego Township reported their vehicles were broken into sometime overnight Nov. 13, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. A stereo, children's books and DVDs were reported stolen.

Drinking at high school

A 15-year-old Aurora girl was charged with consumption of alcohol by a  minor on Nov. 12 at Oswego East High School, according to an Oswego Police report. 

Purse stolen

A woman who was shopping at Kohl’s had her purse stolen at about 3:45 p.m. Nov. 11, according to an Oswego Police report. There was no value estimate given for the purse and its contents. 

Retail theft

Destiny Esquivel, 20, of Aurora, was charged with retail theft at about 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Oswego Walmart. She is alleged to have stolen about $560 worth of merchandise, police said.

Domestic battery

Joseph Orosco, 67, of the 0 to 99 block of Knollwood Drive, Oswego Township, was charged with domestic battery at about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in his home, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report.
