Sheriff's Office Warns of Another Scam

Dec 08, 2014 12:40PM ● Published by Steven Jack

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office has become aware of a scam targeting area residents.

A person will receive a call from someone who states they are from the federal warrant division
and the victim has a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty.

Recent reports in Kendall County show that the caller states he is Captain David Allen. The caller tells the victim that the warrants carry a fine and a processing fee that if paid today would be waived.

The caller
attempts to have the victim pay the fine and fees via the telephone to take care of the issue. This is nothing more than a telephone scam.

The Kendall County Jury Commission will never ask for payment or credit card information for
a missed jury date. If you receive one of these calls, do not send any money to these persons.

If citizens have received a similar call, we urge them to contact their local police agency, and to file
an online report with the Federal Trade Commission at http://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov.
The non-emergency number for law enforcement services in Kendall County is 630-553-5856.

Emergencies should be directed to 911.
