UPDATE 9 A.M. WEDNESDAY

The National Weather Service has canceled the Winter Storm Watch for Kendall County.

ORIGINAL STORY

Oswego residents hoping for a White Christmas just might get their wish.

After a fairly mild fall, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Kendall County beginning at 9 a.m. Christmas Eve, lasting through the evening hours.

Rain will transition to snow Wednesday morning, and forecasters are calling for 1 to 2 inches per hour during the day. Forecasted totals are anywhere from 3 to 7 inches.

The snow will make holiday travel next to impossible in the area, the NWS said. The heavy nature of the snow will also make it difficult to shovel.

Winds of 15 to 20 mph are also predicted.
