A Yorkville man has died after a single-car crash Monday evening along Route 34 just west of Oswego.

According to Yorkville Police, a Kia Sportage driven by Thomas Lucchesi, 54, of the 2300 block of Hobbs Lane, left the roadway about 1,000 feet east of American Way at about 6:45 p.m. and struck a tree about 100 feet off the road.

Even though minimal damage was sustained to the vehicle,
Lucchesi was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Reports state it's unclear whether
Lucchesi suffered a medical emergency before the accident; however, no skid marks or other evidence that he tried to avoid the accident were found in the area.

The Illinois State Police are assisting Yorkville Police in the investigation.
