Man Drives into Tree, Charged with DUI: Police

Jorge Gonzalez, 23, of Aurora, was charged with DUI at about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 18 near Route 30 and Briarcliff Road, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. He was originally stopped for speeding, the sheriff’s office said.
A 17-year-old from Oswego was charged with retail theft, unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Walmart, according to an Oswego Police report.
Dennis Grunt, 32, of Yorkville, was charged with DUI and speeding at about 12:40 a.m. Jan. 16 near Orchard Road and Route 34, according to an Oswego Police report.
Shawn Brogan, 50, of 204 Cobblestone Court, was charged with domestic battery Jan. 16 at his home, according to an Oswego Police report. He was taken to the Kendall County Jail.
An elderly man in the 4000 block of Douglas Road reported that someone broke into his house sometime before 9 a.m. Jan. 15, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. Police did not report what was stolen, and there are no suspects at this time.
Eric Ramirez, 26, of 10 Crofton Road, Oswego Township, was charged with DUI after he drove his car into a tree at about 11:40 p.m. Jan. 15 near Circle Drive and Ridgefield, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. After being taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center for injuries, Ramirez also was charged with driving too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving with an expired license, the sheriff’s office said.
Crystal Watkins, 31, of 656 Hawley, was charged with domestic battery at about 1 a.m. Jan. 15 at her home, according to an Oswego Police report. She was taken to the Kendall County Jail.
Police dogs search high schools for drugs
The Oswego Police in conjunction with several other local agencies conducted a canine drug sweep of the parking lots at both Oswego high schools at about 8:20 a.m. Jan. 15. The operation resulted in contraband being found in six vehicles, three at each school. One 17-year-old girl was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Four 17-year-old boys also were later charged with paraphernalia possession. Police continue to investigate the other cases, said Police Chief Jeff Burgner.
Oswego Police took a report of a 52-year-old woman who was bitten by a dog at about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 14 near Versailles and Market. She was not injured in the incident, police said.
Ivan Infante, 20, of Aurora, was charged with retail theft and possession of alcohol by a minor at about 10:20 p.m. Jan. 14 at Walmart, according to Oswego Police report.
Oswego Police took a report of a phone that was stolen from a locker at OEHS sometime before 7:20 p.m. Jan. 14. The phone is valued at about $550.
Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of the theft of jewelry, prescription pills and a credit car from a home in the 0-99 block of Saugatuck Road at about 4:20 Jan. 13. The theft, which is still under investigation, is alleged to have occurred the previous day at about noon.
Leaving the scene of an accident
Enrique Torres, 20, 15 Afton Drive, Oswego Township, was cited with leaving the scene of an accident at about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 12 near Afton Drive and Pendleton Place, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. Police said Torres failed to give information at an accident in the area and left the scene. He was also cited for driving without insurance.
A 14-year-old Oswego boy was charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 10:15 p.m Jan. 11 at his home in the 300 block of Chesapeake Lane, according to an Oswego Police report.

Benjamin Paul, 21, of 500 Cardinal Ave, was charged with DUI, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 2:50 a.m. Jan. 11 after a single-car accident near Fayette and Wilmore, according to an Oswego Police report.
