The report, which used statistics from 2013, revealed the county's median household income as $81,765 with 5 percent of households making $200,000 or more annually. Long considered Illinois' richest county, DuPage's median household income came in at $78,487.
"Kendall County had an annual median household income of nearly $82,000 over the five years through 2013," the study said. "Many Kendall County residents likely found higher-paying jobs in nearby Chicago, where numerous businesses and institutions are located."
This isn't the first time in recent months Kendall County has received national economic attention.
Real estate company Zillow.com reported last year that Kendall County ranks third in the nation when it comes to property taxes as a percentage of home value. The area came behind only Allegany County, N.Y. and Milwaukee County, Wis.
Kendall County residents pay an average of 3.57 percent in property taxes in relation to the value of their home. The national average is 1.4 percent, the study showed.
