The inaugural SKY 5K Run/Walk will take place on April 18 at 9 am at Hoover Forest Preserve, 11285 Fox Rd., Yorkville.

The event is sponsored by the Kendall
County Juvenile Justice Council and CASA Kendall County (Court Appointed Special Advocates).  Proceeds from the race will help provide services to abused and neglected youth in Kendall County, and also benefit local high school organizations dedicated to helping teens make better choices, including: Kendall County Operation Snowball, Newark TALK, Oswego BIONIC, Plano High School and Yorkville TRY.

Runners and walkers can register at  Early registration runs through March 18th and is $25 for ages 13-adult and $10 for ages 5-12.  It includes T-shirt and complimentary race bag.  Registration is free for children under 4, but no T-shirt is included.  Late registration fees are $30 and $15.

Runners can also register at the event on race day, although limited T-shirts and sizes will be available.  Check-in for runners begins at 7 am on April 18th.  Refreshments, prizes, raffles and sponsor information booths will be available.

The Kendall County Juvenile Justice Council, established in 2010 by State’s Attorney Eric Weis, seeks to prevent delinquency by effectively utilizing community resources to assist at-risk youth and their families  and to provide area youth the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Co-host for the event, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Kendall County, has advocated in the courtroom for abused and neglected children, since 1998.
