An Oswego Township man is in custody on charges that he failed to comply with registered sex offender laws.

On March 16, Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a compliance check on David Strickland, 44, 2400 Block of Light Road, Oswego Township. During the check, deputies discovered Strickland allegedly failed to register a secondary address.

Detectives began an investigation, and on Thursday the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office charged Strickland with one count of Violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act, a Class 3 felony.

According to the State of Illinois sex offender registry, Strickland was convicted in 1992 for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and again in 2007 for predatory criminal sexual assault. He was most recently released from prison last October.

Strickland was taken into custody without incident at the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. His bond was set at $50,000. He is currently in custody at the Kendall County Jail.

Kendall County residents can find out information on sex offenders in their area, and register to receive notifications on when an offender moves nearby at the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Database, at http://www.communitynotification.com/cap_main.php?office=54941.
