Four junior high students from School District 308 took part Monday in the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider at Arlington National Cemetery outside of Washington D.C.

The students, Abby Keys, Lucie Kupres, Natalia Kadolph and Justinne Cruz, are currently on their eighth-grade trip to the nation's capital.

They were chosen to take part in the ceremony after writing an essay about why the ceremony would be special to them. Often times, students chosen for this honor have a special connection to the cemetery.

The students will return from Washington D.C. later this week.
