OYTF Hosting Final Registration Events

Apr 06, 2015 03:20PM ● Published by Steven Jack

Oswego Youth Tackle Football and Cheer (OYTF) is Oswego School District 308’s largest and longest tenured youth sports program with over 500 active participants across the program.

We are celebrating 36 wonderful years in the Oswego community in 2015. As the only Oswego youth football and cheer program that is working with the high schools to break up teams by high school that they are attending, student athletes coming through the OYTF program will be best prepared to play in high school because of this partnership. That is because our coaches and players will be taught the terminology and techniques used for cheerleading and in all three phases of football by the OHS and OEHS programs directly from the high school coaching staffs.

Our fees for 2015 will include brand new Riddell Revolution Speed Helmets and Riddell Rival Youth Shoulder Pads ($250 + total value) because safety is very important to our new board. Along with the new equipment, our coaches will all be certified, once again, in the USA Football Head’s Up program in 2015.

We are now affiliated with the Midwest Youth “Big 12” Football Conference. This decision to join this league was made after reaching out to 6 new potential leagues for 2015. This new league will allow us to play teams closer to Oswego and limit our travel times. Teams in the MYFC include: Yorkville, Kaneland, DeKalb, Burlington, Plano, Sandwich, St. Raphael, and Oswego. This new football league will allow for us to ELIMINATE stripers and double stripers moving forward. Below are the new football weight classes.

8U: All kids must be 6-8 years old as of September 1st. Every player can play offense and defense no matter what their weight is. 85 pounds is the max that you can weigh and still carry the ball.

9U: All kids must be 9 years old or younger as of September 1st. Every player can play offense and defense no matter what their weight is. 100 pounds is the max that you can weigh and still carry the ball.

10U: All kids must be 10 years old or younger as of September 1st. Every player can play offense and defense no matter what their weight is. 120 pounds is the max that you can weigh and still carry the ball.
