May 22, 2015 02:06PM ● Published by Steven Jack

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office oversees 43 sex offenders required to register under the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act, and 5 individuals required to register under the Violent Offenders against Youth act.

Starting in January of 2015, quarterly checks are being completed by Sheriff’s Deputies in the Patrol  and Investigations divisions, to ensure they are abiding by the requirements of their registration. Prior to this year, the checks were completed annually.

As a result of the most recent checks
, five of these individuals were found to not be in compliance. This resulted in four charges for Failure to Report an Address, one charge for failing to report employment, and two charges for providing false information.

“By completing these compliance checks, we ensure that registered sex
offenders and violent offenders against youth are abiding by the terms of the law. Violators of the law will be charged accordingly," said Sheriff Dwight Baird. "The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens. By completing these checks on a more frequent basis, we are able to better fulfill our mission of protecting and serving the citizens of Kendall County”.
