Oswego High School junior Britini Ice is spending the summer studying in China as part of the National Security Language Initiative for Youth program.

She will continue her Mandarin Chinese language studies, which she began two years ago at OHS.

Britini is only one of 620 competitively chosen students from across the United States to participate in the program, which is administered through the U.S. Department of State.

The program aims to teach students to engage other cultures through their native languages.
