A total of six people riding bicycles along Route 34 near Fox Bend Golf Course were struck by a car at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to Oswego Police Media Relations Officer Cathy Nevara, Lamar Smith 40, of the 100 block of Eisenhower, Oswego, was driving eastbound on Route 34 when he lost control of his vehicle and skidded across traffic and onto the sidewalk on the north side of the street.
A family consisting of two adults and four children riding their bicycles on the sidewalk were struck by the vehicle, Nevara said.
Two of the children were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, Nevara said.
Smith was charged with felony reckless driving, and taken to the Kendall County Jail, Nevara said. He was also cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Too Fast for Conditions, and Illegal Screeching of Tires.
The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
