Paving Work on Route 71 to Cause More Delays

Expect more traffic delays along Route 71 beginning next week.

Oswego residents can expect more traffic delays along Route 71 beginning Monday, June 22.

The village of Oswego announced Thursday that contractors will continue paving along the road this time from Route 34 to Main Street.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has warned of backups near Oswego High School, and large trucks entering and leaving the work zone all day.

Franklin Street also will again be closed Monday.

“Over the next 6-8 weeks, the contractor will be working expeditiously to make up for lost work time due to the wet Spring we have been experiencing," IDOT said in a statement released Thursday. "During this time, the contractor may be working day or night depending on the weather conditions. The core hours will be from 5 am to 8pm. The contractor’s work effort may be noisy."
