Oswego was spared the damage caused by the tornadoes and high winds that ripped through several towns in Chicago's far south and west suburbs June 22.

According to the National Weather Service, preliminary reports indicate that nine tornadoes swept through and near the towns of Coal City, Mendota and Sublette. The storms left dozens of homes destroyed and tens of of thousands without power.

The nasty weather may not be through for the week either. The National Weather Service Tuesday issued a bulletin stating more storms with heavy rainfall are possible for Wednesday afternoon and evening.

A flash flood watch will be in effect for Oswego from Wednesday until Thursday afternoon, the NWS said.

While damage was limited Monday in and around Kendall County, Only Oswego Facebook users were able to capture some incredible images of local skies before and during Monday night's storm. Check them out in the slideshow above.
