An Oswego man is facing a host of felony charges for the kidnapping of a woman Sunday afternoon from a home near downtown.

According to Oswego Police, Daniel Perkins, 39, of the 400 block of Madison Street, kidnapped a woman at gunpoint at about 4:20 p.m. at the home. Police were called to the scene at that time, but before they arrived Perkins forced the woman into a car and drove her around for two hours, police said.

During the drive Perkins allegedly disposed of the gun in a lake in Aurora. Perkins then drove the woman, who is known to him, back to the home, police said. Police were still on the scene, and Perkins was taken into custody without incident.

A weapon allegedly used in the kidnapping was later found in that Aurora lake with the assistance of the Aurora Fire Department Dive Team. Oswego Police also were assisted by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and the Montgomery Police Department.

Perkins is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping and armed habitual criminal. He remains in custody at the Kendall County Jail.
