According to a report in local paper The Journal News, Isabella Erickson, 12, of Montgomery, died after the ATV she was driving left the roadway, went into a ditch and struck a tree at about 6:50 p.m. July 4. The accident occurred near Nokomis, which is southeast of Springfield.

Isabella's father, John Erickson, 36, was a passenger on the ATV at the time, the Journal News reported. He sustained injuries in the accident. Both Isabella and John Erickson were taken my emergency medical helicopter to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

"She was an amazingly talented artist and a great kid," said a family friend who contacted Only Oswego. "I know many kids are devastated by this news. Her mom just asks for prayers at this time."

Isabella also had attended Long Beach Elementary School.

Funeral arrangements are still pending, but check Only Oswego later for more information.

A GoFundMe fundraising page also has been established to help the family with medical and funeral expenses. You can donate here.
