Yorkville's The Giving Tree Band will headline this weekend's Beats and Eats show in downtown Oswego.
While high winds, cold temperatures and rain put a damper on the opening event in May, the early forecast for Saturday, July 25's concert is calling for mostly sunny skies and a high of 88 degrees.
Saturday's show along Main Street will feature country and blues artists. Gates open at 4 p.m., and admission is free.
Beats and Eats moved this year from a single day in Prairie Point Park the last three years to three free downtown shows throughout the summer. Saturday's event again will feature a variety of food options along with the Market on Main antique fair.
Here's a look at the acts for the July 25 concert:
Saturday's headliner will be The Giving Tree Band, a Yorkville-based group that features acoustic, electric pedal steel and slide guitars along with mandolin, banjo and violin. The group has released six studio albums since forming in 2007, and has played at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas and tours extensively all over the U.S.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing The Giving Tree Band," said Macey Brooks, Beat and Eats founder and organizer. "... I think it will be a great show. GTB is a very talented group that I am excited to unleash on an Oswego stage. It's all about exposing new bands to new fans."
Mockingbird Sun is a three-piece country act based in Nashville that formed in 2010. They released their first full-length album, This is Real Life, in March of this year. In addition to Oswego, their latest tour will take them to Florida, Alaska and Los Angeles.
Charlie Oxford is another Nashville based musician who plays what is described as "home-cooked, modern soul-pop." The Dallas native will release his first full-length album this fall.
Jesse Isley is a Nashville-based rock and studio session musician striking out on his own. He's appeared on stage at the Grand Ole Opry and The Late Show with David Letterman. His first studio album is being released this summer.
