Cheri Little (right) of Yorkville was the winner of this year’s PrairieFest Quilt Raffle. Presenting the quilt to Little was Quilters Dozen Quilting Club member Sandy Dieter. The raffle is the quilters’ annual fundraising event and is held at the Little White School Museum in Oswego during the community’s annual PrairieFest celebration.
Little held the winning ticket in this year’s PrairieFest Quilt Raffle when the drawing was held at the end of the annual community celebration on Sunday afternoon, June 21.
This year’s PrairieFest Quilt was “Bear Country,” a quilt originally begun many years ago by long-time area resident, quilter, and educator Bette Squier. Squier created the quilt top in the bear motif and then during the past year Quilters Dozen members finished the piece by hand-quilting it.
The annual raffle is the organization’s major yearly fundraiser. Money realized through the raffle is split between the Oswegoland Park District’s PrairieFest celebration and the Little White School Museum, where the club meets each Thursday.
Also during each year’s quilt show, attendees are asked to vote for their favorite quilt on exhibit. This year, the People’s Choice quilt winner was “The Unwinding of Floyd–41” created by Margaret Hornback.
