Letter: Over 100 Athletes Complete 29th Annual Triathlon

Aug 07, 2015 02:12PM ● Published by Steven Jack

Over 100 athletes braved some muggy conditions in the 29th annual Oswegoland Park District I Tried a Tri Triathlon.

Over a hundred athletes gave an outstanding athletic effort at the Oswegoland Park District’s I Tried A Triathlon on August 2nd.

Athletes of diverse ages, abilities, and goals completed the 250 yard swim, 6
bike and 2 mile run throughout the Boulder Hill neighborhood Sunday morning. Each of these athletes deserves congratulations for the time and effort they put out on this toasty summer morning.

Congratulations to the overall female finisher, Pauline Luttrell who finished with a
time of 42:57 and the overall male finisher Mark Luttrell who finished with a time of 34:39. All race results can be found at

The I Tried a Triathlon would not be possible without the over 50 volunteers who stand on corners as course marshals, time each leg of the race, organize swimmers and catch bikes or pass out water and cut up fruit.

I’d like to thank each of these gracious volunteers for their time and for the unending
enthusiasm they give all of the triathletes. Finally, thank you to the Oswego Police Department, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, and the Oswego Fire Protection District for keeping the athletes safe.

Our athletes had a morning they will always remember thanks to the dedication of so many.
The I Tried A Triathlon is a 29 year tradition here. It warms my heart to be a part of such a genuinely sweet community event. Thank you and once again, great job to all of our triathletes and race volunteers.
