Who is Playing at this Weekend's Oswego Beats and Eats Concert?

Aug 24, 2015 10:20PM ● Published by Steven Jack

The Alternate Routes will headline Saturday's Oswego Beats & Eats event on Main Street.

The third and final of Oswego's free downtown summer concert series, Beats & Eats, is just a few days away.

Perfect temps and sunny skies led to a turnout of several thousand at the July 25 event, and organizer Macey Brooks is hoping for a similar result this Saturday.  He said the success of the July Beats & Eats is largely due to the many volunteers and downtown business owners, whom he wished to thank.

"This wouldn't be possible without their generous donations," he said. "Their efforts are very much appreciated."

Saturday's show along Main Street will feature roots and Americana artists. Gates open at 4 p.m., and admission is free. Two new food vendors also have been added.

Here's a look at the acts for the Aug. 29 concert:

Saturday's headliner is
The Alternate Routes, which formed in Bridgeport Conn. in 2002. The band released their fourth studio album, Nothing More, in 2013. Their song Nothing More was featured in the closing ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics, and they played the song on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in March of 2014.

Terrapin Flyer is a jam band that got their start in 1999 in Chicago as Greatful Dead cover band. They frequent Chicago venues like Martyrs, The House of Blues and The Abbey Pub.

The Congregation
is an eight-piece collective from Chicago that play a blend of soul and rock and roll. Their first full-length album, Right Now Everything, was released in 2012.  They were named as one of "11-Bands to Watch in 2011" by The Chicago Tribune.

Edward David Anderson
is a roots and Americana singer/songwriter originally from Bloomington. His new album, Lower Alabama: The Loxley Sessions, will be released Oct. 16. He is currently on tour across the Midwest.
