The Oswego Bears Tiny and Mitey Mite Cheerleaders had an awesome showing in the Chicagoland Pop Warner Princess Gala this past weekend.  Tiny Mite cheerleaders include: Gabriella Albright, Jenna Blaskey, Isabella Fletcher, Jazmin Moreno, Taylor Schuman and Ava Valle.  The Bears Mitey Mite cheerleaders Hannah Adams, Riley Baird, Alaina Bisgrove, Camryn Fox, Brianna Garcia, Addison Gerwig, Brielle Goehring, Jordan Heffernan, Jaiden Ringle, Sydney Rodts, Carson Smith and Anne Tisza will also compete with the Bears PeeWee squad at the Regional competition held at Oswego East High School on October 18.  Come on out and show your support!

Tiny Mite 24 – Plainfield Saint 18

The Oswego Bears Tiny Mites came out strong against the undefeated Plainfield Saints. Oswego provided great blocking behind Luke Hernandez, Austin Martin, Vince Herrera, Zach Gilson, Josh Mathley, Nolan Robertson, Jonah Zakauskas, Giovanni  Garcia and Kashton Wilson who bulldozed the Saints out of Dominic Batista's way to strike the first blow against the Saints.

Batista would eventually find the end zone three more times before the final buzzer sounded.

Defensively Oswego's Alex Perez, Christian Herrera, RJ Shields, and Cameron Logan pressured the Saints offense all game holding Plainfield to 18 points. Oswego had huge sacks by Aiden Cullen, Matthew Odefey to cap Oswego's victory with a final score 24-18 Oswego. This was a great team effort improving the Bears record to 6-1. The Oswego Tiny Mites will host Algonquin Argonauts on Sunday 9 a.m. at Oswego East High School.

Mitey Mite 1 (Slou) 0 – Plainfield Saints 32

Oswego Bears Mitey Mite 1 had a tough time establishing a running game against the older and more physical Saints.    The boys fought hard and look forward to a win next week when they wrap up the season against Hampshire for their homecoming weekend.

Mitey Mite 2 (Heiden) 0 – Plainfield Saints 26

Although not winning the game on Sunday the Mitey Mites were mitey!  It was like a new team on the offensive line with all of our boys blocking so the boys in the back could go forward. Great first down runs by Thomas Anderson, Ethan Brauer and Matt Gandy. Our passing game was top notch with QB Ty Dwyer completing 4 out of 5 passes to tight end Caleb Yanos. In the first half of the game are defense struggled containing the outside but quickly bounced back with great stops in the second half.  The defense was led by Aiden Heiden who had seven tackles in the game.  We also had great tackles by Tyler Vlcek and Matt Gandy great assists by the rest of the defense. These boys sure played with heart and never gave up!

Senior Mitey Mites (Smith) 8 -- Fox Valley Gators 6

The Oswego Bears came out victorious on a well played game versus the Fox Valley Gators.  Aiden Moriarty had the lone Bears touchdown from the 2 yard line. The touchdown was setup by a David Drendel fumble recovery on defense and a Derek Gordon 8 yard run to the 2.  Nick Tickle was a gunslinger to Christian Martyn as the tandem rack up major yardage on pass plays.

Great blocks by Martyn, Brogan Mello and Grant Adams set up running plays by Zac Clarke, Adams, Martyn and Drendel.

Hunter Smith and Isaiah Logan sacked the Gators Running back in the end zone for a safety for the Bears. That made the score 8-6 where it would stand at the final drive. Bryson Mello, Maddox Gerwig and Gordon were stellar as they allowed no pass receptions. Parth Patel and the defensive line pressured the Gator offense all day.  The Bears will host the Southtowne Stallions October 17th at Oswego East High School.

Junior PeeWee 0 – Plainfield Saints 8

The Oswego Bears Junior Pee Wee came up short this past weekend in a defensive battle against division rival Plainfield Saints. This puts the Bears with a 5-2 record heading into the last game of the season. The Bears were able to move the ball all day, but didn’t get it punched into the end zone.  The Saints defense made it hard on the Bears to run, so they had to look to QB Chase Gerwig to pass the ball. Gerwig and TE Chris Dicosola connected on 5 catches for 60 yards. Running backs Colin Rowe, Matt Rodarte & Jackson Gillen helped soften the middle of the defense and open up the pass. Kian Triplett was the Bears leading receiver with 20 yards. Triplett caught a big 4th down double pass from fellow receiver Eric Lewis.

The Bears defense dominated like they have done all year. Connor Mannis, Alex Magana, Ben McCollum, and Gavin Lee plugged the middle all day and gave the Plainfield Saints little room to run. Jaden Nunez, Jackson Gillen, Chris Dicosola and Caleb Adams shut down the ends with LB Tyler Bibbs, Colin Rowe and Matt Rodarte helping out. Corner backs Eric Lewis, Chase Gerwig, Ronan Cornelius, Noah Dial & Kush Patel helped contain the corners & keep the Saints with no completions. Special teams stand outs where kicker Gavin Lee and punter Dan Lawrence. The JPW Bears look to get back to their winning ways next week at Oswego East on Saturday for their final regular season game.

Pee Wee 15 – Plainfield Saints 12

The Oswego Pee Wee Bears improve their record to 6-1.  The Bears started the game operating on all cylinders running the ball down the throat of the Saints defense culminating in a Carter Wojcik 6 yd touchdown run and extra point. The offensive line created gaping holes for Cooper Gorman, Ty Carlson, and Wojcik.  The linemen led by Matthew Engleke, Jackson Robertson, Robert Barnes, Christian Batistta, and Noel Alvarez were firing out of their stances creating running lanes for the running backs.  The Bears marched down the field for 60 yards ending on a fifteen yard touchdown run by Ty Carlson. The Bears went for a 2 point kick, and made it when Carter Wojcik's kick sailed through the uprights.

The defense was led by linebackers Carter Wojcik, Casey Krahula, and Brandon Heffernan. The defense had two takeaways on the day (Krahula, Heffernan) preventing the Saints from putting up additional points.  Defense recovered a Saints fumble and was led by Jordan Logan, Braison Goehring, Matthew McCollum, Sergio Jaimes, Chaise Schulz, Christian Battista, and Jackson Robertson. The defensive backs Austin Johnson, Darren Oregon, Cooper Gorman, and John Jannsens were able to step up and caused 7 incomplete passes.

The Bears play the final game of the regular season next week at home against the Hoffman Estates Red Hawks.  The game will be the Bears homecoming game and we look to finish the regular season with a 7-1 record.

Varsity 8 – Naperville Chargers 14

The Varsity Bears ran into a very tough Naperville Charger defensive team. We ran the ball hard up the middle with Sam Wilson and had some success outside with Mark Baron and Corey Provow picking up some big plays but we could only score once in the second half with a 40 yard pass from Provow to Baron. We lost the game 14-6 but we battled all day. Our line was led by Christopher Matias, Alex Becker, Alex Ponx, Zach Precup, Noah Zukauskas and Brendan Harkins.

We did have some big plays on defense that kept us in striking distance. Sam Wilson had an interception and Brendan Harkins and Corey Provow had a strip fumble recovery Noah Zukauskas and Provow both had big sacks that stopped drives. The boys played hard and will look for the final regular season win on Saturday against Hoffman Estates.
