Midwest Youth "Big 12" Football League hosted its playoffs rounds to see who will be playing in the Super Bowl for the 8u - 11u Football Divisions. Seventh- and eighth-graders start their playoffs this week.
8U (1-3rd graders):
(#1) Oswego Blue 26 - (#4) Oswego Orange 25 in Overtime:
This was an epic game between the undefeated Oswego Blue team versus the number 4 seeded Oswego Orange team. Blue started the game with a kick off return for a touchdown. The game went back and forth until the very end of regulation where the teams were tied 19-19. Blue got the ball first in overtime, where they scored and got the extra point. Orange then got the ball with a chance to tie, they score a touchdown but came up just short in completing the extra point. This game epitomized what OYTF is all about. There was great sportsmanship and competition going on and in the end parents from both teams couldn't be more proud of both teams. Blue will play the number 2 seed Burlington Blue team in the SUPER BOWL on 10/24!!!
(#3) Oswego Orange 14 - (#2) Kaneland White 12:
Orange came out ready to avenge their loss 27-0 loss to Kaneland White in week 6. They did just that, they held the high scoring Kaneland White team to two touchdowns and their defense stopped the extra point tries on both. Their offense came out to play too and put up two touchdowns. The key of the game was the fact that Orange converted on their extra point attempts. Orange will play the number 1 seed DeKalb team in the SUPER BOWL on 10/24!!!
7th Grade:
Oswego Blue 24 - Batavia 0
Oswego Blue's defense was determined to get a shutout in their last game of the regular season. This was a great game to get them ready for the playoffs. They look forward to playing Kaneland in the playoffs next week.
Oswego Orange 0 - St. Raphael Wolves 32
Orange had a great season and just fell short of making the playoffs this year. Their coaches are very proud of the work the boys put in this season and the growth they have seen in each kid. They cannot wait to have this kids back in 2016 on the Oswego Orange 8th grade team.
8th Grade:
Oswego Blue 47 - Sycamore 8
Blue played an all round dominant game in their last regular season game. They look to play just as good in their 1st round playoff match against Oswego Orange
Oswego Orange 36 - St. Joe's 6
Orange played one of their best overall games on the year for their last regular season game in OYTF. They are looking to carry that momentum into their playoff game against Oswego Blue next weekend.
