Oswego Police: Nothing Criminal in Junior High 'Threat'

Oct 26, 2015 07:06PM ● Published by Steven Jack

Oswego Police have determined nothing criminal took place over a rumored social media threat that was supposedly made against a Thompson Junior High student late Monday morning.

According to Police spokeswoman Cathy Nevara, the threat was never substantiated, and students were never in any danger. The threat was said to have been made from someone outside the school.

"Oswego Police and the school determined there was no credibility to the threat and substantiated that no criminal act occurred," Nevara said.

Oswego Police were on hand at the school all afternoon and at dismissal to ensure the safety of students, said a telephone message from Principal Shannon Lueders.

"
Although administration did not believe this to have been a credible threat, we ensured extra police patrols were present in the area at dismissal as a precaution," Lueders said.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact school administrators or Oswego Police.
