Floral Expressions and Gifts is in the midst of moving to the former location of Oswego Cyclery.
CORRECTION: THE NAME OF THE STORE LOCATING AT 67 S. MAIN ST. WILL BE KIMBERLY ANN HOME DECORATING AND CONSIGNMENT BOUTIQUE.
The downtown Oswego storefront being vacated by Floral Expressions and Gifts won't sit empty for long.
Longtime Oswego resident Kim Schulz recently announced her business, Kimberly Ann Home Decorating and Consignment Boutique, will open at 67 S. Main St. in November. The shop will stock estate and consignment furniture, as well as new merchandise. Schulz, who is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell in Yorkville, also will offer interior decorating consultations in the store.
"Since I was a kid and I used to ride my bike downtown with my friends I've been dreaming of opening a store in an old storefront," Schulz said. "We've looked at some different locations, and this just happens to be perfect timing."
Schulz' has done business as Little Sister Pickers since April 2013. That business started out with a few items from family estates, local auctions and other estate sales.
Today, the merchandise is housed in a barn on Cherry Road, but all that will change next week as Schulz begins to move merchandise downtown. A planned opening of Monday, Nov. 23, won't allow much time for changes to the location apart from a fresh coat of paint and a carpet cleaning, Schulz said.
Kimberly Ann Home Decorating and Consignment Boutique, will be the third store downtown to sell consignment furniture. Schulz said she believes her location will provide a perfect complement to Gary's Picks and Re-Joyce.
"I think this will be a nice concept to bring even more people downtown," she said.
