Expect Increased Delays Along Route 71 Starting This Week

Workers will be pouring concrete near the entrances of Oswego High School in the coming days.

The village of Oswego is advising motorists to expect increased traffic delays in parts of the Route 71 construction zone for the next few weeks.

Jennifer Hughes, the village's public works director, said last week that contractors will begin pouring concrete in the new eastbound lanes this week starting just east of the main entrance to Oswego High School and working their way west.

Both entrances to the school off Route 71 will be periodically closed during the process. Temporary entrances east of the existing entrances will be used during the closure.

To access OHS during the closures, motorists may use the Plank Road entrance behind the school.

The concrete work along Route 71 is expected to last about three weeks.
