Churchill third grade student Ryan Weaver was recently honored by the Character Counts Coalition at an Oswego Village Board meeting, where he was honored for his "Award Winning Character."

Nominated by his teacher, Tracy Zalud, Ryan received this commendation for his personal growth in the areas of respect and responsibility.

"Ryan is a fun-loving, curious and excited learner who has worked hard to become a role model of respect, responsibility and perseverance to his classmates," Zalud said.

Ryan was in Zalud's second grade class last year, and when she moved up to third grade this year, he looped with her and remains in her class. She said that "Ryan deserves this award for his own personal effort to make a difference in his own life and the lives of others around him."
