With showers and thunderstorms likely heading into the area Wednesday night, the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for areas including Kendall, Kane, Grundy, DuPage and Will counties, effective through 6 p.m. Thursday.
Winds blew between 40 and 45 mph Wednesday evening, and winds are expected to blow up to 50 mph throughout the day Thursday, according to the NWS forecast.
The weather service urged drivers to use caution, saying driving may be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Minor tree damage is possible Wednesday night and Thursday, and lightweight objects may be picked up by wind gusts, the NWS said.
