Student Arrested for Assaulting School Official, Police Officer

Three Aurora men were arrested for retail theft at about 7:20 a.m. Nov. 15 at the Oswego Meijer store, according to an Oswego Police report. Arrested were: James Ruffin, 41, Vonshayne Young, 23 and Davaree Darden, 20. Ruffin and Darden also were arrested for burglary. Young and Darden also were arrested on outstanding warrants. Police allege the three were attempting to steal about $1,100 worth of merchandise.
Vicky Howard, 59, of Oswego, was arrested for DUI at about 1 a.m. Nov. 15 near Wolf and Douglas roads, according to an Oswego Police report. She was also cited for improper lane use and disobeying a traffic control device, police said.
Victor Garcia, 31, of Aurora, was arrested for domestic battery at about noon Nov. 13 for an incident that had occurred the previous evening in the 200 block of S. Madison Street, according to an Oswego Police report. The victim had been taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center for injuries sustained in the incident, police said.
James Grabowski, 42, of Yorkville, was arrested for DUI at about 9 p.m. Nov. 13 near Orchard and Mill roads, according to an Oswgo Police report.
Theft, marijuana possession
A 14-year-old Aurora boy was arrested for retail theft and possession of marijuana at about 9:20 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Oswego Walmart, according to an Oswego Police report. The boy was released to the custody of his parents, police said.
Ilka Figueroa, 38, of Oswego, was arrested for domestic battery at about 7:50 p.m. Nov. 13 at her home in the 100 block of Springrook Trail South, according to an Oswego Police report.
Accident with injuries
An Aurora woman was hospitalized after an accident at Wolf Road and Route 30 at about 1 p.m. Nov. 12, according to a Kendall County Sheriff's Office report. A Romeoville woman was cited in the accident for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, the sheriff's office said.
Jennifer Stone, 23, of Joliet, was arrested for retail theft at about 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at Kohl's, according to an Oswego Police report. She is alleged to have stolen about $490 in merchandise, police said.
A 14-year-old student at Oswego’s Opportunity School was arrested Nov. 10 after allegedly assaulting a school official and a police officer, Oswego police said. Police spokeswoman Cathy Nevara said officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a student at District 308’s Opportunity School and G.O.A.L. Program, 61 Franklin St., at around 10:50 a.m. Nevara said the girl is charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery to a school official and a police officer. The teenager was also charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to police. Nevara said neither the school official nor the officer required medical treatment.
Oswego Police are investigating several incidents of retail theft at the Oswego Meijer store from Nov 9 to 11. Police said two individuals are responsible for the theft of over $1,000 in merchandise.
An 18-year-old Oswego man was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for not wearing his seatbelt after a rollover accident at about 7 a..m Nov. 9 in the 400 block of Arboretum Way, according to an Oswego Police report. The man hit a parked car due to an iced over windshield, police said.
