A 29-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after apparently losing control of his vehicle and drifting into oncoming traffic, Oswego police said.
On Monday, police identified the man as Sean Maurer of Plano. Maurer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at around 1:52 p.m. Sunday on Minkler Road between Hunt Club Drive and County Lane, police said.
Police said the Maurer was driving south on Minkler Road near the Morgan Creek bridge when his Nissan sedan drifted into the northbound lane and was broadsided on the passenger side by a northbound Honda SUV.
The driver of the SUV, a 65-year-old Yorkville woman,
suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, police said.
Police said no charges have been filed in connection with the crash, which was reported by another driver who came upon the scene just after the incident.
The Oswego Police Department’s traffic crash reconstructionist were called out to investigate the crash, police said.
Minkler Road was closed for approximately six hours after the crash. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
