Four Community Unit School District 308 high school students were recently named National Merit semifinalists.
Oswego High School seniors Davaajav Ganzorig and Trisha Nickerson and Oswego East High School seniors Evan Grove and Jacob Heiser now have the opportunity to strive to become finalists in the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
The students are among 16,000 semifinalists eligible to compete for 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered in the spring. About 90 percent of semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and about half of the finalists win a National Merit Scholarship.
