The former owner of the now-closed Oswego Motors was arrested Tuesday and charged on several felony counts that he defrauded lenders.

According to a news release from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office,  Peter Eupierre, 42, of Westmont allegedly presented bogus bills of sales to banks for vehicles taken on consignment in order to ascertain loans.

The Sheriff's Office began investigating Eupierre in April after a report of a forgery, the release said.

The Kendall County State's Attorney approved two counts of forgery and one count of loan fraud against Eupierre Dec. 17, and he was taken into custody Tuesday without incident. Eupierre was released the same day on $50,000 bond.

Oswego Motors operated for several years at its location in the 1000 block of Route 34, but closed abruptly this summer.
