Kendall County Board Member Dan Koukol has announced he will seek re-election for the District 2 seat he has held since 2010.
Koukol is a lifelong resident of Kendall County, and is a longtime public servant. He is the owner of DK Tractor and Trailer on Route 126 and a local real estate broker.
"I want to run again because I love public service and I enjoy helping people that don't work in the system everyday," Koukol said. "My phone rings regularly, and if I can't answer, I enjoy tracking down the answer."
Koukol serves as chairman of both the County Board's Economic Development and Highway Committees. His accomplishments include the completion of the Ridge Road southern extension and the construction of four lanes on Eldamain Road near the Menards Distribution Center in Plano.
His economic development accomplishments include helping to streamline the zoning process for business development in the county. Koukol said he also helped bring both Wrigley and Electrolux to the county, creating hundreds of local jobs.
If re-elected, Koukol said he will continue his economic development work and watch over the county's bottom line.
"I have never voted for a tax hike, and have voted no on items that are wants instead of true needs of our residents," he said.
Koukol will face off against four other Republican candidates for the District 2 seat in the March 16 primary. Three District 2 seats will be up for election in November. District 2 encompasses most of Oswego and portions of Yorkville, Minooka, Joliet, Plainfield and Aurora.
