Oswego Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday evening in the heart of the downtown.

According to police spokeswoman Cathy Nevara, a man walked into Marcley's Mini Mart at 55 Chicago Road at about 9:45 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The man took an undetermined amount of money, and left the area on foot, heading down Chicago Road toward Route 71, Nevara said. There were no injuries.

Upon arrival, Oswego Police searched the area for about 40 minutes with the help of a police K9, but the suspect was not found, Nevara said.

The suspect is described as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing all black clothing and a blue bandana covering his face, Nevera said.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Oswego Police at (630) 551-7300.
