A traffic issue that has vexed local commuters for many months is slated to be fixed.
Jennifer Hughes, Oswego public works director, announced at Tuesday night's Village Board meeting that the Illinois Department of Transportation has approved the re-striping of the westbound lanes of Wolf's Crossing Road as it approaches Route 30 near the Speedway Gas Station.
Hughes said the right-turn-only lane will be made into a right-turn/through lane and the current left-turn/through lane will be made into a left-turn only lane.
"(This is) probably something that should have been done in the first place," Hughes said.
Hughes said she is unsure of the exact date when the change will occur, but a message sign will be put in place at the intersection for two weeks prior to the change. That change, she said, should take less than a day.
"We are still coordinating our schedule so I don't have a specific date upon which this will occur," Hughes said in an email.
