Park District's Monday Miles Program is Back for 2016

Jun 03, 2016 08:56PM ● Published by Steven Jack

Last summer, the Oswegoland Park District put its vision statement of "creating opportunities for a healthy community" into action when it challenged the community to get moving at Monday Miles! The goal was 2015 miles and on the final night, Oswegoland exceeded that by logging a grand total of 2077 miles for the summer.

This summer the park district is once again asking the community to make their miles count. Monday Miles is an inexpensive, social and healthy activity for all age groups and abilities.

Each Monday from June 6 to August 8, the Oswegoland  Park District will be at the Prairie Point Picnic Shelter hosting Monday Miles. In addition to the 6:30pm evening time that was offered last year, there is also a new option to come at 9:00am.

No matter which time you come, for $2/person, you can choose to walk, run or wheelchair your way towards meeting our community goal of 2016 miles this summer. Participants have their choice between a one mile course and a three mile course. Anyone who attends six or more sessions this summer can earn a Monday Miles t-shirt on the last day.

The Monday Miles Progress 5K is another new addition in 2016! For $10 per run, participants can choose a chip timed option on the first and final weeks to see their personal progress over the course of the summer. Set some goals Oswegoland because this run is designed to help you measure your improvement!

Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome, but please leave your bikes and scooters at home.

These are both drop in programs and there is no pre-registration. Check out the Monday Miles link at the Oswegoland Park District:
